Our Mutation Males
Here are our mutation males. Some of them are not paired up while we have a reshuffle.
Adult Males
Neo
Colour: Ultra-Violet
Neo is a dinky, very sweet Ultra-Violet and a new addition to Elm Chinchillas.
He has the flat nose that is sometimes associated with violets and he is
a very deep colour. He was bred by Georgie Busher, who kindly let me have
him to help with my violet breeding programme. The plan is to pair any violet-carrying
standard daughters that Fern and Moka may produce with Neo.
Highest Award: Reserve Grand Show Champion.
Pepé
Colour: Ultra-Violet
Pepé is a very sweet and friendly chinchilla. He was bred by Albatross
Chinchillas, and he has the most incredible personality. He loves tickes
under his chin and he loves to jump into your arms for cuddles. He has good
colouring and very strong fur.
Highest Award: Best Mutation.
Kazzi
Colour: Brown Velvet
Kazi was bred by Lizz Benson. Originally I had been waiting for a black velvet, but after her main black velvet male suffered a prolapse she opted to keep the black velvet I was going to have and offered Kazi in his place. He is a very masculine chinchilla - there's something a bit Errol Flynn about him! Since arriving, he has fathered 2 lovely sons, a black velvet and a brown velvet who looks much like himself. His 2 sons were each awarded novice 1st awards at their first show!
Highest Award: Best Mutation

Gronw Pebr (Pete)
Colour: Black Velvet
Pete is Lleu's slightly older twin brother. He has inherited his mum Kalli's personality and he is pretty laid back. Nothing much bothers him. He was born quite dark, but then he got lighter, and now he is going slightly darker again. He has slightly tighter fur than his brother and even when he looks a bit scruffy he usually looks pretty good. He doesn't like being picked up much, but once he is being held he is ok and behaves well.
Highest Award: 14/01/07 - Novice 1st Young Mutation.
Lleu (Louie)
Colour: Brown Velvet
When Lleu was born I thought he was a beige, but Lizz pointed out that he was a brown velvet with very good colour coverage. She was right. He is more aloof than his brother but he is also inquisitive. He is more likely to go and check something out than his brother.
Highest Award: 14/01/07 - Novice 1st Young Mutation.
Kain
Colour: Wilson White
Kain was bred by Ian Hudson, who runs the Chinchilla World forum. He is a well built chinchilla with silvery markings and a dark spot. He is really proud, bashful and intelligent - I have never known of a male chinchilla to get past a tunnel comb but I have watched him do it! His offspring so far have also been very clever and have looked stunning. He is Moka's half-brother - they have the same dad.
Highest Award: 06/02/05 - Novice 2nd Adult Mutation.
Sparkey
Colour: Violet
Sparkey is 12 years old. He was bred by Chris Keeling and was originally called Seal. His previous owner didn't like the name Seal and renamed him Sparkey, which does seem to match his personality better. He has dark and surprisingly tight fur, and he usually looks much younger than he is. He loves raisins and loves nothing better than snuffleing them up. He doesn't savour them so much as breath him in! He's not very energetic these days. He spends most of his time now sitting on a shelf watching over all the other chins and sleeping. Sparkey is a pet.
Kazzi's and Kalli's son
Colour: Brown Velvet
This boy is one of 2 kits. He is a sweet and attractive boy but he can be a little timid sometimes.
Highest Award: unshown
