Our Mutation Females

Here are our mutation colour females.

Adult Females

Dolly

Little Heart pictureDolly

Colour: Pink White

Dolly is a fantastic looking pink white. She has some lovely beige markings on her face and she is big and blocky. She was bred by Lizz Benson, and is a new arrival to Elm Chinchillas. She's taking a little while to settle into her new surroundings, but she is relaxing more all the time. The thing she likes to do best at the moment is lie stretched out in her orange Chube. Until recently she was paired with Puddy.

Status: Dolly had 2 female kits at the beginning of January, a standard and a wilson white.

Highest Award: Reserve Best Mutation, National 2006

Smudge

Colour: Black Velvet

Smudge is a relavively new addition to Elm Chinchillas. She was bred by Joyce Garvey and is 1 of 2 sisters. Her sister was awarded Reserve Best Mutation at the 11/02/07 West Midlands and Southern NCS show at Bugbrooke. Smudge is absolutely gorgeous and loves tickles. She's a lazy girl!

Status: Paired with Max.

Highest Award: 14/01/07 - Champ 1st Adult Mutation

Branwen

Colour: Hetero. Beige

Branwen is Roxi and Puddy's daughter. She is very blue, has good confirmation (a nice shape) and strong fur. She has inherited her mum's personality.

Status: Resting.

Highest Award: 14/01/07 - Novice 1st Young Mutation

Fern

Little Heart pictureFern

Colour: Violet

I have a bit of a soft spot for Fern. She was a very huggable chinchilla when she was a baby and still likes to have a lot of attention. She is an excellent mum and has been very firm but fair when her previous kits have been running amuck. She has always been a very democratic chinchilla. I could not part with her.

Status: Resting.

Highest Award: 06/02/05 - Novice 3rd Young Mutation

Roxanne

Little Heart pictureRoxanne (Roxi-pops)

Colour: Beige

Roxanne is a French beige chinchilla bred from American lines. She is quite a big girl and has some lovely freckles on her ears. She has had 1 litter here so far and produced 2 kits, a male and a female. Branwen is her daughter, and they look quite alike. I would like to show Roxi, but last time I got her out to attempt to groom her she pulled away and had a big fur slip. She just didn't like the idea. Roxi is a very vocal chinchilla and likes demolishing wooden shelves, starting off by knawing herself a tail wedge at either end of the shelf and then carrying on from there until what is left looks more like a tooth pick!

Status: Paired with Moka.

Little Heart pictureArwen

Colour: Black Velvet

Arwen was the surprise kit of Kalli & Kazzi. She has nice strong fur but her colour doesn't go down as far as on Gronw and Lleu. She is a friendly and social chinchilla.

Status: Resting, with mum and sister.

Highest Award: 14/10/07 - Novice 3rd Young Mutation.

Crystal and baby

Little Heart pictureCrystal (Crys. for short)

Colour: Violet

Crystal, originally named Hannah, was one of the few violets bred by Etherdale before they stopped breeding violets and went back to concentrating on breeding very blue standards. She is 12 years old, slightly younger than Sparkey, and whereas he looks quite youthful Crys. looks like and behaves like an authoritive old lady. She is used to getting her own way, but these days she sits back and doesn't cause too much fuss.

Status: Crystal is an old girl and a pet.
